Job Title:

Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of independent legal experience in a law firm, governmental legal office, or in-house legal department
- Some background or education in engineering, construction, or architecture preferred
- Experience in contract drafting or litigation preferred
Education:
- Law Degree (JD) from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Bar of the State of New York
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and business strategies to protect and preserve MTA C&D's legal interests
- Draft and review multi-million dollar construction contracts and design contracts
- Analyze and interpret complex technical engineering plans and specifications to minimize legal risk and contractor claims
- Represent MTA C&D in dispute resolution proceedings and negotiate contract changes
- Develop and implement compliance training programs for staff and consultants
- Coordinate and monitor work performed by outside counsel

Summary:
- **Members Only** Company (MTA C&D) is the construction arm of the MTA and is responsible for all capital projects for the MTA operating agencies
- Seeking a practicing attorney to provide legal counsel on a broad range of issues to protect and preserve the agency's legal interests
- Will handle issues in construction, real estate, procurement, human resources, program controls, intellectual property, media, and environmental issues
- Will also assist the Deputy General Counsel with complex matters for the General Counsel and agency executives
About MTA C&D:
- Responsible for all capital projects for MTA operating agencies
- Provides legal advice on construction contracts, litigation and claims, real estate agreements, and more
- Responsible for all procurement activities within the agency
