Communications Specialist – Public Relations
DLA Piper is seeking a Communications Specialist (Public Relations) to join their team. This hybrid role can be based in Los Angeles, Palo Alto, San Francisco, or Seattle, offering a flexible work schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Create and implement media relations strategies to enhance the firm’s visibility with legal and business audiences
• Collaborate with attorneys and colleagues to develop storylines promoting practice areas, attorneys, and achievements
• Proactively pitch story ideas and secure media placements
• Maintain media relationships and stay updated on changes in the media landscape
• Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills:
• Proactive and strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling and understanding of the legal industry
• Proven track record of securing media coverage and building relationships with journalists
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Proficiency in media monitoring tools
• Ability to work West Coast hours preferred
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in marketing, public relations, journalism, or similar field
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, lawyers, and business professionals
• Proven ability to produce high-quality work in a timely manner
• Strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines and expectations
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing competing demands
• Familiarity with DLA Piper culture and values

Salary Information:
The expected hiring range for this position is per hour, depending on geographic market location. Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and receive overtime pay as required by law. Other factors, such as experience and qualifications, will also be taken into consideration. The firm offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan.
