Job Title: Assistant District Attorney (Lateral Hiring)

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in the Investigations Division is tasked with managing an active criminal case docket. The key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and filing pleadings, handling discovery, briefing, and arguing motions.
- Conducting witness preparation, grand jury presentations, hearings, and trials.
- Evaluating cases to formulate and negotiate appropriate dispositions.
- Conferencing cases with defense counsel and judges.
- Making court appearances pertaining to all phases of litigation.
- Investigating cases using various types of legal processes such as subpoenas, court orders, search warrants, and eavesdropping warrants.
- Collaborating with the Nassau County Police Department and local police departments, as well as various local, state, and federal law enforcement partners.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Assistant District Attorney position must meet the following qualifications:
- Passed the New York State Bar Examination and admitted to the practice of law in New York State, in good standing, prior to submitting an application.
- Must reside in New York State as of the effective date of employment with the **Members Only** (NCDAO).
- Have at least five years of experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution, including significant long-term investigations experience, as well as grand jury and felony jury trial experience. Experience in drafting eavesdropping and . search warrants is preferred.
- Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Make a two-year commitment to employment at the NCDAO.
Salary Information:
The annual salary for the Assistant District Attorney position ranges from $93,000 to $163,000.
