Job Title: Employment and Compliance Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide advice on a broad spectrum of global employment law issues, including employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters, grievances, equity, compensation, benefits, contingent workers, employee classification, and global mobility.
- Prepare and negotiate various employment-related agreements, including employment agreements and severance agreements.
- Support and manage internal investigations into employee misconduct, violations of laws or policies, and employee disputes and litigation.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of workplace and compliance policies, processes, and guidance.
- Develop company-wide training on various employment and compliance matters.
- Liaise with external counsel in the . and other jurisdictions as required.
- Prioritize internal client satisfaction while promoting scalable processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with other members of the Legal team and other teams with respect to the overall legal and compliance functions of the company.
- Gain a solid understanding of the company's risk appetite and provide commercially astute, risk-appropriate decisions.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, services, and business model.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctorate and 4-6 years of experience from a top-tier law firm or company in the SaaS, data services, or technology industries.
- Member of a . state bar in good standing.
- Expertise in . and global employment law matters and experience advising companies in a pragmatic and commercial manner.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, critical thinking skills, and judgment.
- Judgement to anticipate and mitigate risk, and to know when and how to escalate issues.
- Proven ability to own tasks and work independently, as well as collaborate with others across the company.
- An independent, patient, and thoughtful demeanor while being adept at managing shifting priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Nice to have experience: Experience advising executives at high-growth technology companies and familiarity with or an interest in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry.
Salary Information:
- Zone 1 (NYC and SF Bay Areas): $193K – $321K, with offers of equity and bonus.
- Zone 2 (All other US areas): $169K – $281K, with offers of equity and bonus.
- Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, relevant work experience, skillset, internal equity, and other factors consistent with applicable law.
