Tax + Benefits Associate - Energy Industry - Multiple Offices
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax + Benefits Associate will be part of the Tax Practice subgroup within the Tax & Benefits practice group at the law firm. The associate will join the transactional tax team with a primary focus on the energy industry. Key responsibilities include:
- Representing clients involved in renewable energy tax credit transactions.
- Handling financings and mergers & acquisitions related to solar energy, wind energy, energy storage facilities, and carbon capture facilities.
- Collaborating with tax equity investors, lenders, and project developers and sponsors, including regulated utilities and their unregulated affiliates, on a wide range of tax issues.
- Drafting partnership agreements and tax opinions.
- Engaging in firm-wide interaction and client contact.
- Participating in professional organizations and engaging in speaking and writing opportunities for growth and development.
Education and Experience Information:
- 5 to 8 years of experience in a transactional tax practice with a focus on the energy industry.
- Experience with renewable energy tax credit transactions, financings, and M&A.
- Partnership experience, including drafting partnership agreements and tax opinions, is beneficial.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Law firm experience is preferred, but experience in a large accounting firm will also be considered.
- Candidates must be licensed and in good standing in the state in which they practice.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $305,000 - $380,000, dependent on relevant years of experience.
