Job Title: Staff Attorney
Job Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Staff Attorney include assisting their assigned Justice with legal research, analysis, and writing. The role involves performing highly complex legal research, analysis, and writing tasks. Staff Attorneys may also supervise the work of others and are expected to work under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for using initiative and independent judgment. Key duties include researching and writing memoranda on appeals and/or original proceedings and participating in case conferences. Additional responsibilities may involve making recommendations on motions and performing routine administrative duties as required. The position also entails performing related work as assigned.
Education and Experience Information: Candidates must have graduated from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (.) degree. They must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and must be active members in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Preferred qualifications include a strong academic record, demonstrated writing ability, experience with law review or a journal, moot court or mock trial experience, and prior work experience with an appellate court or other appellate-related experience.
Salary Information: The salary range for the Staff Attorney position is between $110,000 and $131,460 per year, depending on the qualifications of the candidate.
