Paralegal The candidate's duties include: Preparing legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, discovery and appeals. Organizing and preparing documents for trial and arbitration hearings. Preparing affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence, and organizing and maintaining documents in our electronic filing system. Working closely with our attorneys and the calendaring system to ensure cases are moved forward accurately and smoothly. Communicating with clients, courts and opposing counsel and following client standards for work product. Researching and analyzing evidence to support the attorneys with pre and post judgment motion practice, and trial preparation. Requirements: Collections or Creditors Rights experience a plus. Knowledge of statutes, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Using logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to set up functions, enter data, or process information. Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail. Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time. Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job. Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
