Responsibilities:
- Provide legal guidance and support for the design, development, and launch of BCDC products, features, and services
- Proactively advise on legal implications of potential BCDC transactions, new products and experiences, customer terms and conditions, vendor engagements, and marketing materials
- Develop BCDC-related policies, training, and toolkits
- Address regulatory questions regarding BCDC initiatives, such as federal securities laws, commodities laws, illicit finance laws, and state regulations
- Stay informed of legal and regulatory developments that could impact BCDC and communicate updates to team members
- Collaborate with international legal colleagues for BCDC initiatives outside of the United States
- Assist Government Relations team with evaluating and responding to notices of proposed rulemaking and requests for comment
- Represent PayPal's interests and communicate with regulatory agencies, enforcement authorities, and external counsel as needed
Requirements and Qualifications:
- JD or equivalent degree with strong academic credentials
- 5+ years of experience practicing as an attorney at a regulatory agency, in-house, or at a reputable law firm
- At least 2 years of experience focused on financial technology, payment systems, digital assets, financial regulation (securities law, commodities law, banking law, illicit finance)
- Understanding of digital asset ecosystems and frameworks preferred
