Key Responsibilities:
- Confirm coverage by reviewing first notice of loss, checking all available systems, and interpreting policy language.
- Prepare initial position letters such as disclaimers and reservation of rights.
- Conduct thorough and focused investigations of claims, securing all pertinent facts, statements & documents, identifying joint tortfeasors and witnesses, and conducting scene investigations.
- Post, review, and maintain initial reserves based on liability and damage evaluation.
- Proactively manage files toward final disposition through effective diary management, direction to defense counsel and independent adjusters, and analysis and strategy leading to negotiated settlements or trials.
- Maintain substantive file documentation in claim notes.
- Communicate effectively with policyholders, underwriting, actuary, and other departments through delivery of comprehensive and concise authority requests, reinsurance reports, serious loss reports, and coverage position letters.
- Support customer service by responding promptly to phone and email inquiries.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Enroll in continuing education to maintain state licenses and support professional and personal development.
- Travel as required to attend mediations and mandatory court hearings.
Qualifications:
