Job Title: Accounting Specialist - Billing
Job Responsibilities:
- Generate and distribute prebills to billing attorneys and edit them via Prebill Viewer and Aderant based on requests from billing attorneys.
- Produce a high volume of complex client invoices via Aderant for billing attorneys.
- Ensure all invoices comply with law firm and/or client billing guidelines, compiling all required supporting documentation prior to submission.
- Monitor and address any invoice rejections, reductions, and appeals immediately.
- Generate and distribute monthly client statements.
- Prepare ad hoc reports as requested, including audit reports and summaries of billed and unbilled fees and costs.
- Convert manual invoices to Aderant invoices and collaborate with cash receipts to ensure the proper and timely application of client payments.
- Send out monthly accounts receivable and work in process reports.
- Dispatch monthly bills directly to clients or billing attorneys, electronically or manually, as directed.
- Respond to billing inquiries from both internal and external sources.
- Undertake special projects and ad hoc reports as needed or requested.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of accounting billing experience.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor, and presentation.
- Very accurate with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative and can work well under minimal supervision or as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Uses good judgment and has common sense; excellent follow-up skills.
- Proactive in identifying billing issues and able to determine when to escalate to a supervisor with possible solutions for consideration.
- Able to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships at all levels of the law firm.
Salary Information:
- Pay: $45,000 - $50,000 per year
