Job Title: Workers' Compensation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the workers' compensation claims process from intake through resolution, which includes reviewing medical records, determining claim eligibility, and gathering necessary documentation.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations by drafting legal correspondence, discovery documents, and pleadings.
- Communicate with injured workers, insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and legal teams to gather and provide information related to claims.
- Review and organize case files, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor the status of ongoing claims and ensure timely follow-up and case management.
- Prepare and file workers' compensation claims documents, petitions, and other legal filings.
- Research workers' compensation laws, regulations, and case law to support legal strategies and claims management.
- Assist with the preparation of settlement offers and negotiations for case resolution.
- Coordinate medical appointments and evaluations related to claims.
- Prepare case summaries, reports, and updates for attorneys and clients.
- Ensure that all deadlines are met, and maintain an organized system for tracking cases and filings.
Education and Experience Information:
- At least 1 year of experience in workers' compensation case management.
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws and regulations.
- Experience in preparing legal documents and managing case files.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with legal software, case management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a workers' compensation law firm or for an insurance carrier.
- Bilingual abilities are a must.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in legal studies, paralegal studies, or a related field.
- Paralegal certification or completion of a paralegal studies program is a plus.
