Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
A Legal Assistant at the law firm is responsible for providing both administrative and legal support within the firm's busy immigration practice. The key duties include:
- Preparing filings for United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration Court, and Circuit Court.
- Drafting motions for Immigration Court and applications/petitions for USCIS.
- Drafting client affidavits.
- Performing legal research to support case preparation.
- Communicating with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates.
- Answering and directing phone calls to appropriate individuals within the firm.
- Providing administrative support to staff members, which includes scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and creating new client files.
- Handling incoming and outgoing mail efficiently.
- Performing general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and scanning documents.
- Assisting with data entry and record-keeping to ensure accurate client file management.
- Filing mail into clients' physical and digital files.
- Observing business etiquette and maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
Education and Experience:
The position requires candidates to have either an associate or bachelor's degree. Additionally, candidates must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience working as an immigration legal assistant or paralegal. Being bilingual in Spanish and English is a mandatory requirement. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential. Candidates should have clear and professional written and verbal communication skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, a teamwork mentality, and an eagerness to learn and grow.
Salary Information:
The position offers a pay rate of to per hour, with expected working hours of 40 per week.
