Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities: Research state and federal procedural rules, court rules, and local rules, and act as a consistent resource with regard to their application. Know how to file and serve documents in state, federal, administrative, and arbitral jurisdictions. Prepare documents for filing, including bluebooking, cite- and fact-checking, and proofreading. Set up pleadings, discovery, and correspondence to support cases from inception to closure in conformity with all applicable rules and requirements. Understanding of e-discovery databases and electronic discovery. Assemble, format, and coordinate service of document productions. Provide frequent updates to case teams and manager on deadlines, project challenges, and overall project status. Create and organize exhibits for motions, pleadings, and trial. Maintain and organize a case file. Complete special projects as needed. Track all time and create accurate descriptions of work performed for client bills.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or California Paralegal Certificate preferred. Should have 5 years of substantive civil and criminal litigation experience in California and federal trial and appellate courts as a paralegal in a law firm setting. Proven working experience as a senior litigation paralegal. Familiarity with caite and fact-checking procedures, including Bluebook standards. Comprehensive knowledge of practices and procedures in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Familiarity with e-discovery databases, and how to export or load files, including Relativity and DISCO. Strong communication skills and willingness to work as a member of a small, tightly knit team to accomplish mutual goals. Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to multitask and take on multiple cases and assignments at once. Highly evolved organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Westlaw research platform. Ability to work independently, while also possessing the ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
