Job Title: Accounting Manager

Job Responsibilities:
The Accounting Manager at the law firm is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and leading the accounting department. This role requires a blend of technical accounting expertise and leadership skills within a fast-paced legal environment. The core responsibilities include managing all aspects of the firm's accounting operations such as accounts payable/receivable, billing, collections, and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will also oversee trust accounting and ensure compliance with IOLTA regulations. Furthermore, the role involves processing attorney time entries, handling client billing requirements, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. The position also requires managing cash flow, maintaining banking relationships, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and maintaining internal controls. Coordination with partners on financial planning and budgeting is also a key responsibility.

Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in law firm accounting. Candidates must have proven experience with legal billing software and trust accounting. A strong knowledge of GAAP and law firm accounting principles is essential. Candidates should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, and experience in managing and developing staff. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are also necessary. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA certification, prior experience with legal practice management software, and knowledge of Missouri/Illinois legal billing requirements. Experience with financial analysis and forecasting is also preferred.
