Job Title: Immigration Paralegal/Case Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The Immigration Paralegal/Case Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the legal team at the law firm by managing immigration cases and ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of documentation. The key responsibilities include:
- Document Preparation and Management: The paralegal will be responsible for preparing and compiling immigration applications and petitions for submission to various government agencies. This includes applications for removal defense relief, visas and permanent residency, work permits, and citizenship. Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all paperwork is essential.
- Client Communication: Acting as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and government agencies, the paralegal will provide clients with timely updates on their case progress. Maintaining open communication lines to gather necessary information and documents is crucial.
- Case Management: The paralegal will independently manage a substantial caseload, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with all filing requirements. Organizing and maintaining documents in a paper or electronic filing system is part of the role.
- Support for Legal Proceedings: The paralegal will assist attorneys with the preparation of legal arguments, affidavits, and other case documents for immigration court proceedings and interviews, as needed. Coordinating the collection of evidence to support each case is also required.
Education and Experience Information:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an immigration paralegal is required.
- A high school degree is necessary.
- A Bachelor’s degree or a certificate in paralegal studies from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is important.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and case management software is needed.
- Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is required due to the multicultural nature of the clientele.
