Job Title: Paralegal - Responsive Pleadings
Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal will provide vital support to attorneys, primarily focusing on responsive pleadings for asbestos cases. Their duties include:
- Assisting in fact investigation, legal research, document preparation, and production.
- Managing databases, docketing/case management, and overall client service.
- Engaging in discovery, deposition preparation, investigation, trial and mediation preparation.
- Analyzing factual information and assisting in preparation of pleadings, motions, and/or briefs.
- Managing document production databases and case management databases.
- Participating in trials.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor and complying with firm policies.
- Sustaining attention to detail and quality of work.
- Developing technical proficiency in database use and management, internet/electronic research, and project folder/electronic file maintenance.
- Organizing and managing files independently or delegating similar tasks to Paralegal Assistants or Information Governance.
- Supervising and mentoring Paralegal Assistants.
- Anticipating attorney needs and meeting a billable hour requirement of 1500 hours per year.

Position-Specific Requirements:
- Mandatory experience in Asbestos/Toxic Tort litigation.
- Possession of a Paralegal Certificate or a Bachelor’s degree in a law-related field, or an Associate’s degree with paralegal training.
Education and Experience Information:
- Required: Experience in Mass Tort/Asbestos.
- Preferred: Florida asbestos experience.
- Educational qualifications include a Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree.
Salary Information:
Employees are compensated based on skill, experience, location, and other legal factors. Expected compensation ranges for the position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:
- State of California: $84,000 - $112,000
- State of Colorado: $67,000 - $92,000
- State of Illinois: $72,000 - $98,000
- State of Maryland: $70,000 - $98,000
- State of Massachusetts: $76,000 - $90,000
- State of Minnesota: $89,000 - $100,000
- Jersey City, NJ: $85,000 - $116,000
- State of New York: $79,000 - $116,000
- State of Washington: $78,000 - $106,000
- Washington, DC: $85,000 - $115,000
The above salaries exclude a discretionary bonus, which is non-guaranteed and dependent on individual and firm performance.
