Job Title: Senior Technology Trainer
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Technology Trainer at the law firm operates under the guidance of the Technology Training Manager to deliver comprehensive end-user training on all standard software and hardware utilized by the firm, aimed at both new hires and existing personnel, including lawyers and staff. The role encompasses planning and delivering one-on-one technical training and performance coaching, as well as providing technical and operational support during the design, development, evaluation, and promotion of training initiatives. Key responsibilities include creating training plans for new courses and assuming the duties of the Technology Training Manager when necessary. The trainer is expected to provide leadership by mentoring other trainers and offering input into training methods, effectively delegating non-priority tasks, and ensuring the continuity of training and development activities.
Specific training duties involve planning and delivering in-person, remote, and one-on-one training sessions, scheduling activities to address complex technical and process issues, and coordinating follow-up training sessions. The trainer also conducts new hire training and orientation, regular workshops, and training classes on technical applications and processes, while promoting best practices and coaching on technology utilization. Collaboration with Human Resources is essential to assess staff technical capabilities and develop learning action plans.
In terms of curriculum development, the Senior Technology Trainer collaborates on designing, developing, and reviewing curriculum and training documentation for application workflows and software upgrades. They assist the Technology Training Manager in planning and developing specialized training, and design eLearning content using Adobe Captivate, applying modern instructional design principles. Advanced knowledge of Camtasia and SnagIT is utilized in content development.
The role also involves participating in IT projects for new applications and product upgrades, maintaining class schedules, attendance, and feedback in the firm’s Learning Management System (LMS), and responding to special requests. The trainer recommends areas for improvement to enhance service quality and performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or possess equivalent experience. Experience in training delivery and content development is required, along with previous experience in a law firm setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Acrobat, is necessary. Familiarity with Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems, Adobe Captivate, and TechSmith Camtasia is essential. The candidate must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
The position demands strong time-management skills, the ability to multitask, a client service focus, and effective teamwork. Self-motivation, minimal supervision, confidentiality, discretion, good judgment, interpersonal communication skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a sense of urgency and flexibility are crucial. The candidate must be open to working over 40 hours per week, accepting tasks outside of normal duties, and assuming new responsibilities if department needs change. Travel is required, and various physical activities may be part of the job.
