Paralegal Position at **Members Only**: Duties, Qualifications, and Application Process
Position: Paralegal at **Members Only**
**Members Only** is seeking a paralegal to join our team and provide support and assistance to our staff attorneys as they provide free legal assistance and community legal education to low-income and other vulnerable Iowans. This position is based in one of our regional offices located in Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Dubuque, Iowa City, Mason City, Ottumwa, Sioux City, or Waterloo.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial client screening and intake, including data entry, financial eligibility assessment, and conflict status evaluation
- Assist staff attorneys with legal tasks under their direction and supervision
- Collaborate with other agencies for referrals
- Conduct legal research and prepare documents
- Provide on-site support for Eviction Help Desks
- Manage case management systems
- Represent **Members Only** in the community and with client groups
- Advocate before administrative agencies
- Coordinate and conduct outreach and community legal education
- Perform administrative and clerical work as needed
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree; preference for candidates with a paralegal degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, such as low-income individuals, elderly, victims of domestic/sexual violence, people of color, and/or individuals with disabilities
- Knowledge of trauma-informed services
- Bilingual verbal and written communication skills in one of the languages commonly used by low-income Iowans (. Arabic, Bosnian, Spanish, Vietnamese)

Salary/Benefits:
Current entry level salary is $41,873, with non-entry level salaries dependent on relevant experience. We also offer excellent fringe benefits.
