Job Title: Staff Attorney

Job Responsibilities:
The Staff Attorney at the organization will play a crucial role in managing and directing the legal operations within the office. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in overseeing the office's legal functions, ensuring the quality and consistency of legal decisions, and coordinating daily assignments of Hearing Officers.
- Adjudicating various types of administrative hearings as necessary.
- Implementing and maintaining procedures to ensure timely hearings and decisions.
- Utilizing databases or other systems to manage productivity, timeliness, and staffing requirements effectively.
- Handling special assignments and projects, which may involve oral or written presentations.
- Accurately conveying agency policies to the public.
- Ensuring cooperative interaction between administrative and legal personnel and acting as a legal advisor to administrative personnel.
A hybrid office/remote work schedule is available following the initial training period.
Education and Experience Information:
- Admission to the New York State Bar is required, along with one of the following:
- One year of satisfactory legal experience in the United States subsequent to admission to any state bar.
- Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086).
- Candidates must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing throughout their employment.
- For Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates need one year of experience at AL I or two years of comparable legal experience post-bar admission in related areas of law.
- For AL III, candidates require two years of experience in AL I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience post-bar admission in related areas of law.
Preferred Skills:
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent writing, legal research, and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational, management, and training skills.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $103, annually.
