Director of Business Development, Legal, Compliance, and Risk
Job Responsibilities:
The Director of Business Development, Legal, Compliance, and Risk is tasked with driving, monitoring, and enhancing sales performance for the company's legal channel service offerings. These services include electronic discovery, digital forensics, information governance, cybersecurity, data analytics, forensic accounting, and investigations. The director is responsible for expanding the sales presence and identifying new business opportunities aligned with the company's business strategies on both regional and office levels. Key responsibilities include:
- Cultivating relationships with attorneys, particularly partners in top law firms, and corporate counsel, compliance, and risk professionals within corporations.
- Leveraging a strong network of C-Suite and legal market contacts to generate new business.
- Developing and executing business development plans with Advisory Principals and Managing Directors for services relevant to the target market.
- Identifying necessary business development activities to drive opportunities and define cross-selling and key account programs.
- Facilitating monthly meetings with the Regional Business Development Director and practice leaders to design, implement, and report on business development and marketing plans.
- Collaborating with practice leaders to understand service capabilities and report on market perceptions and competitor activity.
- Distributing business development plans, goals, and progress reports to Advisory practice leaders quarterly.
- Facilitating the production of pursuit/pipeline reports monthly.
- Directing practice strategies and resources to improve sales effectiveness while maintaining compliance with national processes.
- Working with Principals to negotiate pricing and service delivery with prospects.
- Providing feedback to National Business Development Services on processes and tools.
- Coordinating with company Alliance USA and international member firms on initiatives as appropriate.

Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- A Bachelor's Degree and five or more years of business development/marketing experience in a professional services environment or industry-relevant firm are required; OR a High School Diploma/GED and seven or more years of relevant experience.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Marketing is preferred.
- An advanced degree (JD, MBA) is preferred.
Experience:
- A proven track record of developing business relationships with C-level executives (CEOs, CFOs, Board of Directors) and referral sources (attorneys, bankers) is required.
- Experience in professional services firms such as accounting, cybersecurity, data analytics, software, business advisory services, and/or electronic discovery industries is preferred.
License/Certification:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Client relationship management (CRM) experience is required.
- Microsoft Dynamics experience is preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge in sales process development, management, and execution, including business development planning, lead generation, event planning, pipeline management, account planning management, and sales strategy.
- Ability to develop business relationships with C-Suite executives, Board of Directors, and referral sources.
- Ability to influence, lead, marshal resources, and manage change positively in a matrix environment.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate the company's business, marketplace, and value proposition.
- Knowledge of contact management software, including updating, maintenance, and list generation.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to present and facilitate effectively.
- Capacity to travel to assigned offices within the region for meetings and events (up to 50 percent annually).
Salary Information:
Salaries for candidates are determined after considering various factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary range is consistent across several states:
- California Range: $150,000 - $200,000
- Colorado Range: $150,000 - $200,000
- Illinois Range: $150,000 - $200,000
- Maryland Range: $150,000 - $200,000
- Minnesota Range: $150,000 - $200,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $150,000 - $200,000
- Washington Range: $150,000 - $200,000
- Washington DC Range: $150,000 - $200,000
