Litigation Docket & Calendar Specialist

Job Responsibilities
The Litigation Docket & Calendar Specialist is responsible for possessing a strong knowledge of the State, Federal, Local, and Judges’ rules, and having a thorough understanding of the litigation process. The Specialist is expected to accurately compute deadlines and work independently while reviewing the work of other team members to ensure a cohesive and functioning docketing team. Key responsibilities include:
- Being highly detail-oriented, fast-learning, capable of multitasking, and working independently in a busy department.
- Researching resource guides, rule codes, authorities, and numerous courts’ websites.
- Communicating quickly and clearly via emails and phone to respond to inquiries from attorneys, secretaries, and paralegals regarding matter calendars and court procedures.
- Being flexible and adaptable to changing department procedures when necessary.
- Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail, as well as reliability and dependability.
- Ensuring daily attendance, which is critical to the role.

Education and Experience Information
Required Qualifications:
- 1-5 years of litigation docket and calendaring experience in a law firm legal docketing department or clerk's office.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal rules of civil procedures.
- Familiarity with using an automated, rules-based docket and calendar system.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of court rules in California, Texas, Illinois, Washington DC, Virginia, and/or Maryland is highly preferred, with a strong preference for knowledge of California court rules.

Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer/Software Knowledge
- Required: Familiarity with CompuLaw or similar docket software
- Preferred: Typing speed of 45+ WPM

Work Environment
- The role is based in one of the local law firm offices, with the option to work from home.
- Attendance in the office is required on an as-needed basis.
- Overtime may be required when necessary.

Salary Information
California: The pay range for this position is to per hour.

Illinois: The wage range for this position is - per hour. This position is eligible for medical, vision, and dental insurance.

Washington DC: The pay range for this position is - per hour. Medical, vision, and dental coverage is available, including coverage for dependents and domestic partners.
