Job Title:
Senior Claims Examiner, Miscellaneous Professional Liability

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Claims Examiner is tasked with managing and resolving claims of moderate to high complexity and exposure, often subject to disputes requiring mediation or litigation. Key responsibilities include:

- Investigating, negotiating, and settling complex primary and excess policy miscellaneous professional liability claims. This includes claims against professionals such as real estate brokers/agents, title agents, escrow agents, accountants, insurance agents and brokers, home inspectors, information technology consultants, debt collectors, medical billing consultants, and utility inspectors.
- Analyzing coverage under primary and excess professional liability insurance policies, making determinations, drafting routine and complex coverage correspondence, and effectively communicating coverage positions to policyholders and stakeholders.
- Managing litigation nationwide against insureds by appointing, directing, and managing defense counsel, and working towards expeditious and economical resolution of claims.
- Assisting the company's claims vendor management, disbursement, and legal collections teams with defense counsel, bill payment, and collection issues.
- Communicating with underwriting to manage claims and alert them of significant developments.
- Promptly updating the Claims Manager on adverse case developments and providing information on pertinent issues affecting the miscellaneous professional liability product line.
- Collaborating within a team environment, analyzing complex issues, recognizing alternative approaches, and developing action plans in both oral and written forms.
- Adhering to the company's guidelines and procedures, ensuring proper internal reporting, and contributing to the implementation of various initiatives led by the Claims Manager.
- Participating in agent-related functions and meetings as required and actively engaging in the training and development of other claims examiners.

Education and Experience Information:
- 5-10+ years of professional liability claims or litigation experience is required. Experience with excess liability (quota share, first layer, and high layer) claims or litigation is a plus.
- A college degree and/or professional designation is required, with a JD being preferred.
- Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, a sound comprehension of insurance coverage posed by professional liability policies, and the ability to analyze and convey complex issues.
- Experience in determining contractual obligations, conducting insurance coverage analyses, and managing investigations is essential. Insurance coverage litigation experience is a plus.
- The ability to manage complex litigation, set loss and expense reserves, and evaluate settlement values is necessary.
- Candidates should be able to work collaboratively and as team players within the Unit and Professional Liability Division.
- Proactive self-management of a caseload and the ability to travel as necessary (approximately 10%) are required.
- The company offers hybrid working schedules of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Salary Information:
The base salary for the position ranges from $73,600 to $122,600, with a 15% bonus potential. The salary offered will be based on factors such as job-relevant education, experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.
