Job Title: Paralegal - Trusts & Estates
Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal for Trusts & Estates at a law firm will be responsible for providing support in corporate and commercial transactions under the supervision of attorneys. Key duties include:
- Managing daily trust administration for a variety of clients, which involves properly managing accounts, preparing letters, and completing transfer forms.
- Assisting in drafting estate planning documents, including wills, powers of attorney, and both basic and advanced trusts.
- Helping manage and organize estate and probate files.
- Preparing accounting and financial statements.
- Docketing court documents and filing them with the courts and government offices.
- Proofreading documents for spelling, grammatical, and formatting errors.
- Communicating directly with clients to provide updates or assist with accounting and tax needs.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Paralegal Certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a professional environment, which includes progressive responsibility in managing client trust accounts, is necessary.
- Experience working in a law firm is preferred.
- Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, Lexis/Nexis, and other internet research tools, is required.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are essential.
- The candidate should possess highly effective written and oral communication skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently, taking initiative to move projects to conclusion.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor in stressful situations and reliability as a team player are crucial.
- The ability to maintain the confidentiality of client information and perform well under pressure is required.
Salary Information:
This is a full-time, regular position that offers a comprehensive health benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance. The firm also provides life insurance, short-term disability plans, retirement plans, holidays, and paid time off. Hybrid work schedules are available, combining in-office and remote workdays. The pay range for this position varies by location:
- In Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston: to per hour
- In Raleigh and Winston-Salem: to per hour
- In New York and Washington, DC: to per hour
