Defense Litigation Paralegal The candidate will track, collect, and potentially review medical and other records; manage and meet discovery deadlines; and manage and update case activity to assist attorneys with case monitoring and client reporting. Create, update, and otherwise proactively manage multi-case and client reports, including spreadsheets, that track all aspects of case status, including substantive allegations, motions, settlement activity, statistics, and claimant information. Process authorizations and collect and compile medical records, including through vendors. Monitor and interpret reporting, court orders, calendars, etc. to identify, calendar, and communicate deadlines and appearances to attorneys and assist with all phases of discovery. Research, locate and retain expert witnesses. Prepare reliance materials, binders, and exhibits for depositions, mediations and settlement conferences, expert review, and trials. Assemble motions and accompanying exhibits. Compile photographs, and other fact investigative material to be analyzed and/or produced. Prepare and serve various legal documents, . subpoenas, discovery requests, motions, etc., and execute follow-up regarding service and filing of documents. Communicate with clients, vendors, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, local counsel, and counsel for co-defendants as needed. Prepare deposition digests and summaries, analyze medical records and draft chronologies. Use document management software, prepare document productions by analyzing, coding, redacting, and bates stamping documents. File electronically in both state and federal court. Travel to court to file documents, attend hearings, or assist at trial. Review, download, profile, and distribute case notifications received electronically. Accurately record and maintain billable hours. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Should have 3-4 years of defense litigation experience. Medical malpractice and product liability experience is a plus. Experience managing client reporting and case tracking documents is required. Experience processing medical authorizations and collecting and compiling medical records is required. Experience interpreting reporting, court orders, and other sources to identify and communicate deadlines and litigation events is required. Experience reviewing medical and technical records is a plus. Experience utilizing SharePoint, e-discovery platforms, and trial technology tools is a plus. Military experience is welcome.
