Job Title: Senior Research Center Manager

Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Research Center Manager, the candidate will be responsible for leading the development of the Research & Information team in the United States and being a key member of the senior management team. The responsibilities include:
- Adopting a program of continuous improvement to ensure efficient delivery and use of resources.
- Supporting the adoption, use, and promotion of products, new technology, and systems.
- Cultivating strong relationships with internal stakeholders and attorneys across the law firm.
- Leading the evolution of the research team to meet the changing needs of the business.
- Negotiating, influencing, and managing conflicts to ensure appropriate deployment of Research staff and resources.
- Developing, implementing, and championing policies across the US Practice.
- Collaborating with other support teams to provide attorneys with seamless service.
- Identifying, leading, contributing, and implementing projects to improve and develop the service.

Management responsibilities include:
- Oversight and management of 10 legal research staff on a day-to-day basis.
- Forecasting headcount needs and influencing management in the growth and deployment of Research staff to support attorneys.
- Recruiting, training, and developing staff, undertaking regular appraisals and salary reviews.
- Ensuring staff are developed and trained to deliver exemplary service.
- Overseeing training programs to ensure a return on investment in online products and systems.
- Providing expert advice on the use of legal sources to meet the firm’s objectives.
- Encouraging and leading the team to engage and influence attorneys on the adoption and use of new technologies.

Relationship management:
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with the team, attorneys, and peers.
- Working closely with peers within Research and Innovation to promote and champion the contribution of the Research function.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Master’s Degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited school is required.
- At least 10 years of management experience in a similar organization.
- Strong legal research and database skills across all practices and proficiency with various legal databases.
- Familiarity with MS Office and interest and confidence in using new technology.
- Proven record of working in a collaborative environment.

Salary Information:
The expected salary range for this position is as follows:
- California Major Markets: $116, - $180,
- New York City: $138, - $180,
- National: $101, - $150,

California Major Markets include San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within the National range.

The law firm is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the law firm’s estimation as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range depends on various job-related factors, which may include qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, and geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, determined by Firm and individual performance.
