Job Title: Consultant, Personal Property Tax

Job Responsibilities:
The Personal Property Tax Consultant is responsible for ensuring compliance with jurisdictional requirements for personal property tax. This involves a range of duties, including researching tax issues, reconciling financial records and databases, engaging with taxing authorities to verify calculations and filing methodologies, and performing detailed tax calculations. Key responsibilities include:

- Creating a positive team experience.
- Preparing personal property tax returns/renditions, filings, and reconciliation of assets for assigned clients.
- Ensuring that all returns/renditions and remittances are processed and mailed on time.
- Reviewing personal property tax assessments, filing and handling assessment protests, and managing audits.
- Responding to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
- Reviewing documentation and researching tax-related issues.
- Working with raw data to complete necessary calculations.
- Assisting in managing a high-volume compliance portfolio.
- Providing exceptional client service to multi-state companies by identifying tax savings opportunities.
- Assisting multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies, which includes preparing clients for discussions with auditors, representing clients at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests.
- Maintaining an annual client filing calendar.
- Learning and using proprietary software applications to manage data.
- Updating internal compliance software with appropriate tax-related information for each client.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Candidates for the Personal Property Tax Consultant position should have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration/Management, Business Computer Information Systems, Economics, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Public Administration, Real Estate, or another related degree. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a Business Discipline or a JD, Business Analytics, Operations, and Supply Chain Management is also acceptable. Additional requirements include:

- Completion of six hours in Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or Finance with a GPA of or higher, and a Major GPA of or higher.
- Relevant work experience is preferred, such as internships, summer positions, or school jobs, or a Bachelor’s degree with one to three years of tax-related experience.
- A desire to perform in a high-energy team environment.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.

Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research is required.

Certificates and Licenses:
A valid driver’s license is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:
The work environment is a standard indoor setting. The position may require long periods of sitting while working at a computer. Regular interaction with employees at all levels within the company is expected, as well as interaction with clients and external vendors via email and telephone. Independent travel requirements may be up to 10-20%.
