Job Title:
Senior Claims Specialist - Construction Bodily Injury
Job Responsibilities:
- Handle moderate to high complexity and exposure claims, including those subject to mediation or litigation.
- Manage claims from coverage inquiry through legal liability assessment and quantum analysis to resolution, ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure.
- Review policies and documents to confirm coverage of claims.
- Analyze coverage and communicate coverage positions.
- Prepare coverage position letters and refer suspicious losses to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU); assist in the investigation and settlement of claims.
- Conduct, coordinate, and direct investigations into loss facts and extent of damages.
- Direct and monitor assignments to experts and outside counsel.
- Evaluate information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine insured's exposure.
- Set reserves within authority or make recommendations for reserve changes to the manager.
- Negotiate and settle claims, typically in litigation, within authority.
- Present cases going to trial to senior claims leaders and underwriters, providing advice and insight.
- Participate in special projects impacting the business; may lead larger projects.
- Represent the company at mediations, trials, and conferences.
- Analyze loss information for business stakeholders and present findings during meetings with underwriters and/or insureds.
- Serve as a technical resource to underwriting and assist with drafting policy wording.
- Train new hires and provide assistance, guidance, and coaching to others within the claims department.
- Provide input into the maintenance of claims guidelines and best practice procedures.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
- Must have or be eligible to receive a claims adjuster license.
- Participation in industry training opportunities such as CLM Claim College, Munich Re Training, FDCC, etc. is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in handling construction bodily injury claims or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in negotiation, mediations, and monitoring trials.
- Ability to influence claims stakeholders and effectively direct claims strategy.
- Strong litigation management skills required, including the ability to direct defense attorneys and other experts while controlling expenses.
- Ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Knowledge of tort and contract law.
- Strong desire for continuous improvement.
Salary Information:
The base salary for the Senior Claims Examiner, Construction Bodily Injury is between $73,600 and $122,600, with a potential 15% bonus. The salary offered will be based on factors such as job-relevant education, experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other compensable factors.
Additional Information:
- The company offers hybrid working schedules with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
