- Gain real courtroom experience in a practical, hands-on setting.
- Observe and participate in motion practice, contested hearings, and trials.
- Assist with case review, investigation, and trial preparation.
- Engage with witnesses and crime victims regarding ongoing cases.
Education and Experience Information:
The internship is open to law students who are in their second (2L) or third (3L) year or are law school post-graduates. Preference is given to students eligible for a Temporary Trial Card through the Texas Bar Association. It is important to note that internships are unpaid. If interns are participating for school credit, the organization will work with the respective law school to ensure academic requirements are met.
Deadlines for Application:
The organization has two induction periods for interns: summer and fall. For summer internships (May - August), applications must be submitted by April 30th. For fall internships (August - November), the deadline is July 15th. Special circumstances outside these periods may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Application Process:
Interested applicants must submit their applications via email. The process includes a background check and other security measures. The application requires biographical information, educational background, employment history, and references. Applicants must also disclose any criminal background information and authorize a background check.
Salary Information:
The internship is unpaid.
Additional Notes:
Interns are expected to comply with legal and organizational protocols and understand that participation is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Disqualifying information or falsification of information may result in termination of the internship.
