Job Title: Fall Intern - Family Justice Division
Job Responsibilities:
The internship program offered by the organization provides law students a unique opportunity to work in a Texas prosecutor's office, specifically within the Family Justice Division. Interns are expected to:
- Gain real courtroom experience in a hands-on setting.
- Observe and participate in motion practice, contested hearings, and trials.
- Assist with case review, investigation, and trial preparation.
- Communicate with witnesses and crime victims regarding ongoing cases.
Education and Experience Information:
Internships are limited to law students who meet the following criteria:
- Must be in their 2L or 3L year or be law school post-graduates.
- Preference is given to students eligible for a Temporary Trial Card through the Texas Bar Association.
Additional Requirements:
- Internships are unpaid.
- Accepted interns are subject to background checks and other security measures.
- Interns seeking to earn school credit will have their academic requirements accommodated in collaboration with their law schools.
Application Deadlines:
- For summer internships (May - August), applications must be submitted by April 30th.
- For fall internships (August - November), applications must be submitted by July 15th.
- Special circumstances for different intern times may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Legal Considerations:
- Interns must authorize the release of information for a background check, which is a prerequisite for consideration for the internship.
- Any disqualifying information found during the background check or falsification of information may lead to termination of the internship.
Salary Information:
