Job Title: Associate Attorney - Workers' Compensation
Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Attorney in the workers' compensation practice group will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities critical to the management and litigation of workers' compensation claims. Key duties include:
- Conducting file reviews and performing legal analysis of workers’ compensation claims to determine their viability and strategy.
- Engaging in extensive legal research and drafting various legal documents, including client correspondence, discovery devices, summations, appeals, and appellate briefs.
- Meeting an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours, demonstrating a commitment to workload management and productivity.
- Representing clients at depositions and hearings before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board, showcasing advocacy skills in formal legal settings.
- Preparing for and attending trials, ensuring comprehensive trial readiness and effective case presentation.
- Retaining and evaluating expert witnesses to support case arguments and provide specialized insights.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Associate Attorney position must meet the following educational and experiential criteria:
- Possess a Juris Doctor (.) degree from an American Bar Association (ABA)-approved law school, ensuring a solid foundation in legal education.
- Have over three years of experience as a practicing attorney, which underscores a depth of practical legal experience.
- Be admitted to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania, with admission in Washington, ., and/or Maryland considered advantageous.
- Exhibit superior analytical and problem-solving skills, essential for effective legal practice.
- Display strong research abilities along with excellent written and oral communication skills, necessary for drafting legal documents and client interaction.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, the ability to self-manage, and the capacity to work effectively within a team environment.
- Show prompt responsiveness to email and phone inquiries, emphasizing the importance of client and colleague communication.
- Possess excellent client skills and telephone manners, which are vital for maintaining client relationships and professional communication.
