Job Title: Associate - Business Litigation
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in courtroom and mediation/arbitration proceedings.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Research various factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys about strategies.
- Draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, etc.
- Examine records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations to assess potential client claims.
- Commit to working in a variety of commercial litigation practice areas.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients.
- Meet a minimum requirement of 1800 billable hours annually.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in litigation is required.
- Experience in complex commercial litigation and/or bankruptcy is preferred.
- Admission to the New York bar is required.
- Admission to the Connecticut and/or Massachusetts bar is preferred.
- Federal or state judicial clerkship experience is preferred.
- Must possess a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the bar.
- Must have excellent research and writing skills, and be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated high level organizational skills are necessary for prioritizing workload.
- Must exhibit the ability to absorb, process, and understand new information rapidly.
- A high standard of performance, conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility are required.
- Must have a professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude.
- Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization is essential.
- Military experience is welcomed.
Salary Information:
- Albany: $130,000 - $175,000
- Uniondale & White Plains: $135,000 - $175,000
