Job Title: Director of Attorney Professional Development
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement attorney professional development initiatives, including designing, implementing, and delivering training programs, mentorship or coaching opportunities, orientation and onboarding initiatives, individualized learning plans, and leadership development pathways tailored to the needs of attorneys at all levels.
- Oversee the management of all firm CLE compliance, ensuring continuous CLE opportunities.
- Design and deliver training programs on substantive legal topics, professional skills, technology, and client service.
- Partner with firm management, practice group leaders, and other attorneys to identify training and program needs, ensuring alignment with firm strategy and goals.
- Source and maintain relationships with external consultants, coaches, and speakers, and maintain active involvement with appropriate professional organizations.
- Develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of attorney training programs and use data-driven insights to improve learning outcomes.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and operational oversight for the attorney professional development team.
- Develop the attorney professional development budget, including forecasting, resource allocation, and cost management.
- Collaborate with various departments to align attorney professional development initiatives with broader talent management strategies, including inclusivity, employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, with a JD highly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in professional development or 7+ years with prior experience as a practicing attorney.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, facilitating, and delivering training programs to sophisticated, highly educated audiences, preferably attorneys.
- Certification in instructional design, professional development programs, coaching, and assessment certifications are preferred.
- Expertise in leveraging learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), eLearning platforms, and virtual training tools.
- Proven success in aligning professional development initiatives with firmwide strategic objectives and long-term goals.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and prioritize multiple projects.
Salary Information:
- The base annual pay range for this role is between $200,000-$250,000.
- The base pay offered will vary depending on skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal equity.
