Job Title: Judicial Specialist 2
Job Responsibilities:
The Judicial Specialist 2 position involves a variety of clerical and technical duties essential for the effective operation of the court. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and processing court documents and performing judicial procedures using a court case management system.
- Acting under general supervision to handle specialized clerical and technical duties related to case processing, management, and clerical business of the court.
- Administering jury functions, filing court documents, and managing financial transactions including fines, fees, restitution, and bond payments.
- Generating, arranging for service, and mailing court documents to involved parties.
- Drafting correspondence to respond to case inquiries and entering case information into an automated system.
- Providing high-level customer service to the public, law enforcement officials, and attorneys.
- Using the case management system to open, docket, and close cases, assessing and receipting filing fees, and ensuring accurate data entry and documentation.
- Managing and reconciling daily cash receipts, preparing bank deposits, and following cash handling procedures.
- Processing, maintaining, and distributing documents, files, and case materials, and using electronic filing systems for reviewing incoming documents.
- Handling orders of protection, bond payments, and preparing bond reports.
- Reconciling billing and invoices for Specialty Court Programs and preparing documents such as notices and final orders.
- Executing case hearings and maintaining accurate records of court fees and case information.
- Organizing jury trials, preparing jury-related documents, and managing jury communications.
- Maintaining and archiving case files, preparing exhibits, and ensuring the operational status of courtrooms and equipment.
- Serving as a court monitor, courtroom clerk, and providing support to other courts within the judicial district.
- Coordinating with Specialty Programs and managing court exhibits and evidence.
- Acting as a liaison to advance court proceedings and performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience: Two (2) years of experience in court case processing, legal secretarial work, or a related field such as advanced customer service, data processing, or banking/financial experience.
- Experience Substitution: Additional post-secondary education in a related field may substitute for up to one (1) year of experience. Thirty (30) semester hours equals one (1) year of experience.
- Typing Certification: A typing certification from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions or similar may be required, with a proficiency score of at least 35 net words per minute.
- Certification: May be requested to complete the NM Court Monitor Certification Examination.
Salary Information:
The target pay range for this full-time, permanent position is per hour or $46,494 annually.

Competencies/Qualifications:
Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of legal terminology, jury service, filing methods, case processing, research methodology, court fee accounting practices, court monitoring procedures, and general organizational structure of the judiciary.
