Job Title: Senior Manager of Compensation
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager of Compensation plays a pivotal role in leading compensation planning and execution for designated functional areas within the law firm. They are responsible for the development and implementation of base and incentive compensation programs, policies, and procedures that align with the firm's competitive strategy. The primary responsibilities include:
- Leading the implementation and administration of compensation programs.
- Overseeing the annual compensation survey participation, benchmarking process, and market data analysis, with a focus on maintaining a competitive peer group.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommending cost-effective changes that align with compensation trends and firm objectives.
- Analyzing . market data and trends to recommend updates to current compensation programs.
- Providing advice on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
- Developing techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting data.
- Managing participation in salary surveys and monitoring survey data to ensure compensation objectives are met.
- Managing the annual compensation process, including budget proposals, base pay, and multiple bonus programs, in collaboration with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Finance as needed.
- Providing analytical support to evaluate plan effectiveness, metrics, and reporting.
- Applying critical reasoning to recommend problem-solving solutions.
- Collaborating with talent acquisition to provide insights and recommendations on compensation matters to support business goals and ensure market competitiveness.
- Coordinating with the compensation team to prepare summary materials and reports for the Compensation Committee and leadership.
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations, including minimum wage requirements and pay equity.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline is required, with a Master’s Degree being a plus.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant compensation experience, including leadership and management experience, is required.
- A Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is desired.
- Experience working in specialized services industries, such as legal or financial services, is strongly preferred.
Salary Information:
For New York, the expected salary range for the Senior Manager of Compensation position is between $165,000 and $185,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
