Job Title: Family Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage client and attorney calendars for court dates, client meetings, mediations, and deadlines.
- Assist attorneys by organizing case files and documents for court and meetings.
- Prepare trial binders for attorneys in anticipation of litigation.
- Provide direct legal support at trial for complex divorce matters.
- Support family law litigation through research, drafting, and discovery preparation.
- Open cases, process court documents, and prepare discovery summaries.
- Handle client communications with professionalism, including calls and de-escalation.
- Must be intimately familiar with Mac computers.
- Proficient with or have the ability to utilize MyCase as case management software.
Education and Experience Information:
- 1-3 years minimum experience working as a family law paralegal.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program (Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies) is preferred, although significant experience is acceptable in lieu of a certificate.
- Legal research and legal writing skills.
- Integrity and discretion in handling confidential matters.
- Strong time-management and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage client interactions professionally.
