Paralegal Duties: The candidate organizes and analyzes documentary evidence including claim file materials, medical records, expert reports, depositions, discovery, investigative, and other materials. Answer and prepare discovery/e-discovery. Under attorney direction drafts and prepares discovery responses and requests. Prepares and handles tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other requests for information. Monitors files and escalates issues requiring attorney involvement. Conducts legal research using online media for experts, background searches, and case investigations. Requests medical records. Maintains Master Production Log to track all incoming/outgoing requests. Provides professional assistance and support to the legal staff in the development, research, management, and resolution of cases.

Qualifications: The candidate should have 1+2 years of prior paralegal experience (Civil litigation/long-term nursing home litigation a plus). Experience in answering and preparing discovery/e-discovery required. Working knowledge of paralegal concepts, procedures, and practices. Knowledge of operations, practices, and procedures of civil litigation. Must have a demonstrated knowledge of legal research. Knowledge of how to bill time. Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records. Research, analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills are required. Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook and knowledge and application of legal research tools (Westlaw). Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. High School Diploma or its equivalent.
