Overview:

- As a member of the Regulatory Change Management team, the Compliance Regulatory Officer will serve as a subject matter expert, responsible for identifying and overseeing the timely implementation of new or changes to existing laws, rules, regulations, and material regulatory guidance for SMBC.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, with a graduate business degree or . preferred.
- Must have a former regulator, compliance, and/or attorney/legal background, with established relationships with industry and regulators preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the regulatory environment, including federal and state banking laws and regulations.
- Experience working with regulators, specialized regulatory consulting firms, or law firms.
- Understanding of large and complex financial institutions and their functions, including Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, and Operations.
- Strong organization and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Proven track record of managing high priority items in high-pressure environments.
- Advanced project management skills and experience in leading and program managing end-to-end regulatory change management programs.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Must have 4-7 years of specialized experience in Financial Services and 4+ years of experience within Banking or Financial Services Regulatory Compliance, Governance, Legal, or related department, preferably with a foreign banking institution doing business in the .
- Bachelor's degree required, with a Master's degree or law degree desired.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Lotus Notes, and SharePoint.
