Job Responsibilities:
The paralegal at the company will provide essential support to the in-house legal department. Key responsibilities include managing contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, supporting corporate governance by filing annual reports, maintaining entity records, and assisting with due diligence for transactions and partnerships. The paralegal will assist with compliance and intellectual property matters, which includes monitoring regulations and preparing supporting documentation. They will also develop and implement processes to streamline legal operations, integrate technology tools, and drive overall efficiencies. In addition, the paralegal will support litigation matters by managing case files, assisting with discovery, responding to subpoenas, and coordinating with external counsel. A flexible approach is required as the paralegal will need to assist with various tasks within the legal department, even those that may be unfamiliar or outside of their usual responsibilities. The role requires a minimum of four days per week in the Palo Alto, CA office and occasional travel.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have a minimum of seven years of paralegal experience, ideally gained through a combination of experience at innovative technology companies and/or top-tier law firms, with startup experience being a plus. A bachelor’s degree is required, and an ABA-approved paralegal certification is preferred. The candidate should possess a strong sense of ownership, be inquisitive and enthusiastic about technology, and enjoy being continually challenged. They must demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations, have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks independently. Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset are necessary. The candidate should be tech-savvy with an understanding or keen interest in emerging technologies like AI. California Notary registration or a strong interest in obtaining certification is desirable.
Salary Information:
The annual salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $150,000 USD.
