Job Summary:
NFP, an Aon Company, is seeking an experienced ERISA Attorney to join our Retirement Plan Consulting team in Providence, RI. This role is critical to providing legal expertise and strategic guidance on all aspects of qualified retirement plans. The ideal candidate will partner with clients and our internal advisors to ensure compliance, navigate complex regulatory landscape and deliver value-added solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on ERISA IRC and DOL regulations impacting retirement plans.
- Partner with existing ERISA staff to monitor legislative and regulatory developments and communicate to teams and clients.
- Manage a book of retirement plan clients.
- Advise on plan design, amendments and operational compliance of retirement plans.
- Offer guidance to clients and internal retirement plan advisors on fiduciary responsibilities.
- Develop fiduciary training for internal retirement plan advisors and clients.
- Support with IRS and DOL audits, voluntary corrections and other regulatory filings.
- Work closely with clients and internal retirement plan advisors to address complex plan issues and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and communicate impact to internal retirement plan advisors and clients.
- Conduct training sessions for clients and internal retirement plan advisors on ERISA compliance, plan management and emerging trends.
- Participate in sales final presentations.
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school; active membership in at least one state bar.
- Series 65 or within 6 months of start date.
- 4+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on ERISA or retirement plans.
- Knowledge of fiduciary consulting, Secure Act and other recent legislative changes impacting retirement plans.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of qualified plans, plan management and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Client-focused approach with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Must be self-motivated and a hard worker.
- Must have a strong sense of business ethics and integrity.
- Ability to interact well with internal and external clients.

Compensation:
- Base salary range of $125K - $150K.
- Actual base salary offered will be determined by factors such as experience, credentials, education, certifications, and geographic location.
- Performance-based incentives may also be available.
