Associate General Counsel
Job Responsibilities
The Associate General Counsel, Privacy at the Company will provide legal advice and support concerning personal information management across the Company's audio, ad tech, and ad sales businesses. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with stakeholders across the enterprise, including Information Security and business leads.
- Assisting in the communication and rollout of regulatory compliance initiatives across brand entities.
- Working with brand SMEs to define business requirements for compliance with privacy legislation, trade and industry guidelines, the Automotive Alliance privacy principles, and other applicable frameworks.
- Coordinating US privacy governance with the European privacy team.
- Providing privacy-by-design consultation during the early development stages for new products and/or uses of personal data to ensure data governance and policy compliance.
- Assessing new business processes for privacy impact and drafting risk assessments.
- Providing legal and privacy guidance on customer and vendor due diligence questionnaires.
- Negotiating data processing agreements and other data-related contract provisions.
- Maintaining and updating internal and external privacy policies.
- Conducting internal training for business teams on data privacy rules and policies.
- Supporting privacy incident response investigations and remediation.
- Staying current with laws, regulations, court decisions, and industry best practices on privacy, data protection, artificial intelligence, biometrics, and consumer regulations as related to data collection, use, and processing.
Education and Experience Information
Education
- . from an accredited . law school.
- Licensed and qualified to practice law in at least one state in the United States.
- CIPP certification.
Experience
- 8+ years of post-qualification legal experience in-house or private practice, with at least 2 years of experience in data privacy.
- Experience drafting and negotiating contracts with technology and service providers, including but not limited to SaaS and cloud providers, marketing technologies, advertisers, publishers, and advertising measurement and attribution vendors.
- Proven experience and ability to understand and apply data privacy and information security knowledge to a corporate data privacy program.
Knowledge and Skills
- Up-to-date knowledge of data protection laws in the US and Canada, including CCPA, GLBA, CAN-SPAM, US State privacy laws. Knowledge of data protection laws in other regions, including GDPR, UK-GDPR, e-Privacy, and EU AI Act, is desirable.
- Knowledge of glossary and technical data requirements of the ad tech ecosystem, and familiarity with advertising industry standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of privacy matters related to AI and ML are highly desirable.
- Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work with creative and technical SMEs.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and drive successful results across functional disciplines and business types.
- Ability to adopt direction and move forward independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility with an orientation to positive outcomes and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications and tool suites.

Salary Information
At the Company, a wide range of factors are considered when determining compensation, including background and experience. These considerations can cause compensation to vary. The base salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $193,000 to $260,000, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives.
