Job Description:
- Responsible for managing a team of 12 direct reports, including attorneys and paralegals
- Oversee cases in Commercial and Personal Lines, including but not limited to bodily injury, property damage, and federal court actions
- Venues may include Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial Counties
- Requires diverse experience in multi-lines of business and strong leadership skills
- Opportunity to handle cases directly
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and lead NTD standard methodologies, processes, and guidelines
- Maintain good relationships with clients and claims management
- Lead and manage performance and efficiency of assigned office
- Assist with preparation of business reports and make recommendations for critical business decisions
- Co-manage and coordinate all administrative functions, including expense management
- Monitor and respond to office growth demands or reductions in workforce
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned
Reporting Relationship:
- Reports to Managing Trial Attorney (8-2)
- Manages a team of attorneys, paralegals, and/or support staff
Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active license in the state where the position is located
- 10+ years of relevant civil litigation and trial experience, with management experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in highly complex matters of law
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent negotiation and analytical skills
- Creative problem solver with strong computer skills
- Good time management and organization skills
- Ability to train and motivate staff
- Strong leadership skills, including problem solving and influencing
- Familiarity with ethical rules and corporate policies
Job Conditions:
- Exempt position, not eligible for overtime
- Normal office environment with frequent and occasional overnight travel
- Extended hours may be necessary to meet demands of the profession
