Job Title: Associate Counsel, California - REMOTE
Job Responsibilities:
The Associate Counsel position at the company involves defending lawsuits filed in California courts and other first-party insurance defense. The role includes the following responsibilities:
- Conducting legal research and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
- Providing opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
- Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, which includes depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.
- Defending cases by trial or dispositive hearing for all matters assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
The following qualifications are required for the Associate Counsel position:
- A Juris Doctor degree is mandatory.
- Admission to the California Bar is required.
- The candidate must be licensed in good standing to practice law in California and must meet and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.
- The role requires 2-6+ years of experience in related field litigation, specifically in insurance defense or personal injury.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in civil litigation.
- Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
- Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
Candidates must also be able to:
- Travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, and other professional meetings.
- Document files clearly and professionally to be understood by various stakeholders.
- Follow complex instructions and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Organize, prioritize, and multitask efficiently.
- Learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
Salary Information:
The annual salary for the Associate Counsel position ranges from $118, to $186,. This range serves as a general guideline, and the final offer will consider multiple factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s work experience, education, and training, work location, as well as market and business considerations.
