Job Title: Manager, Finance
Job Responsibilities:
The Finance Manager at the law firm will have a multifaceted role involving oversight, analysis, and strategic planning. The core responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and guiding a team of Financial Analysts to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with policies while fostering the professional development of team members.
- Monitoring and analyzing firm-wide financial performance, focusing on revenue and expense trends and profitability metrics.
- Preparing detailed monthly and quarterly financial reports and dashboards for executive leadership and partners.
- Conducting profitability analysis by department, office, or timekeeper to aid strategic decision-making processes.
- Leading the annual budgeting and reforecasting processes in collaboration with department heads to ensure alignment with firm objectives.
- Managing financial planning models and conducting scenario analysis for key initiatives and investments to support strategic growth.
- Partnering with HR and leadership to support attorney compensation modeling and bonus analysis, ensuring competitive and equitable compensation structures.
- Assisting with long-range planning, including working capital management and firm growth initiatives to sustain and enhance firm operations.
- Collaborating with IT and operations teams to ensure financial data integrity and support reporting enhancements.
- Supporting firm leadership in developing business cases for operational and strategic initiatives, providing financial insights and justifications.
- Overseeing financial compliance with internal controls and supporting internal and external audit processes to maintain fiscal accountability and transparency.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Finance Manager position should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Advanced credentials such as CPA, CMA, or MBA are preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and commitment to the finance field.
- A minimum of 5 years of finance experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment, to ensure familiarity with industry-specific financial practices and challenges.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel, are essential to effectively manage and interpret complex financial data.
- Experience with law firm financial systems, such as Aderant or Elite 3E, and business intelligence/reporting tools like Power BI or Tableau is preferred, facilitating efficient data management and reporting.
Salary Information:
The annual compensation range for the Finance Manager position at the law firm is $150,000 to $190,000. The specific salary offered within this range will be contingent upon the candidate's qualifications and other operational considerations.
