Job Title: Principal, Advocacy
Location: Bellevue, Washington or Oregon
Experience: 10+ years in tax public policy and/or negotiation in a corporation or professional services firm

Responsibilities:
Develop and execute strategies to align with business priorities and achieve business goals
Negotiate resolutions on specific client cases with state taxing authorities and other decision makers
Identify and drive efficiencies in the tax administration process
Establish positive working relationships with government officials and third-party groups
Collaborate with interdepartmental teams to identify opportunities and issues
Create a positive work environment and provide excellent client service
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Requirements:
Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in law, government, or public policy, with a focus on tax
Master’s degree, Juris Doctor, CPA, or Master of Public Administration preferred
10+ years of experience in tax public policy and/or negotiation in a corporation or professional services firm
Thorough understanding of Federal and State tax laws and proven track record of working with senior government officials and regulators
Established relationships with key decision makers and influencers in regulatory agencies and state legislatures
Strong negotiation skills and ability to achieve successful results in tax cases and campaigns
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet navigation and research
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license
May be required to register as a lobbyist
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly or indirectly supervises employees in the Practice and interdepartmental teams
Work Environment:
Standard indoor working environment with occasional after hours and weekend work
Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 lbs.
Regular interaction with employees and clients in person, on video, and via e-mail and telephone
Independent travel required (30-50%)
