Closing Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Closing Paralegal is responsible for providing clerical support on prelitigation files under the direct supervision of an Attorney and Paralegal Manager. The primary duties include document preparation and review, client communication, and other administrative tasks related to closing cases. Key responsibilities encompass:
Case Management
- Logging daily mail and drafting necessary correspondence for day-to-day case management
- Verifying balances
- Assisting with the resolution and protection of subrogation lien interests
- Preparing files for litigation transfer when necessary
- Assisting the Attorney with settlement paperwork and disbursements
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Meeting Goals
- Meeting goals set by management
Communication
- Communicating and corresponding with clients, Attorneys, and insurance adjusters regarding case status
- Maintaining consistent client contact
- Preparing weekly reports
- Participating in monthly team meetings
- Attending mandatory quarterly meetings
- Ensuring regular, consistent, and punctual attendance
Education and Experience Information:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Three to five years of relevant work experience in fields such as insurance, medical billing, insurance verification, or accounting
- A Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is preferred
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office and ability to operate standard office equipment
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters
- Familiarity with standard clerical and general office administration procedures
- High command of English grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task while maintaining organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- The job operates in a professional office environment with exposure to computer screens and a low level of noise
