Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze legal sources including statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes.
- Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, and appeals for review, approval, and use by attorneys.
- Investigate facts and law of cases to determine causes of action and prepare cases accordingly.
- Assist with the collection, review, summarization, and organization of electronic and paper discovery materials.
- Prepare trial binders and other materials for case preparation.
- File pleadings with court clerks both personally and electronically.
- Prepare affidavits of documents and maintain document files.
- Deliver or direct the delivery of subpoenas to witnesses and parties involved in actions.
Education and Experience Information:
- A certificate of completion from a paralegal program or a post-secondary degree from an institution requiring a minimum of 24 semester units in law-related courses, accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization, is required.
- Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in an unrelated major is acceptable if accompanied by:
- A certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal program, or
- A minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California or practiced in the federal courts of California for at least the preceding three years, along with a written declaration from the same stating that the paralegal is qualified to perform paralegal tasks.
- Every two years, paralegals must certify completion of:
- Four hours of mandatory continuing legal education in legal ethics.
- Four hours of mandatory continuing legal education in either general law or an area of specialized law.
- Continuing legal education must meet the requirements established in Section 6070 of the California Business and Professional Code.
- Candidates should possess 7+ years of litigation paralegal experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word, is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, cite checking, and proofreading skills are necessary.
- Extraordinary attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.
- Candidates must be comfortable performing repetitive tasks and have the ability to work well under tight deadlines, prioritize, and multi-task when needed.
- Ability to work individually or in a team environment is required.
Salary Information:

- The pay range for this role, considering various compensation factors, is estimated to be – hourly for applicants based in California. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, relevant experience, and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable employment laws.
