Job Responsibilities
The Collector/Resolution Specialist is tasked with a variety of responsibilities aimed at effectively managing and resolving outstanding debts. The primary duties include:
- Contacting debtors via phone, email, and/or mail to negotiate payment arrangements.
- Documenting all collection efforts meticulously and maintaining accurate records of communications with debtors.
- Conducting research on debtor accounts to recommend appropriate next steps.
- Handling inbound calls and responding to debtor inquiries and payments as necessary.
The role requires a high degree of professionalism and the ability to prioritize workloads effectively. The specialist must be able to work independently, meet goals and deadlines, and perform under pressure, particularly in generating repayment documents and managing garnishment files. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to make informed decisions within the scope of responsibility, with a working knowledge of relevant laws pertaining to collections.
Education and Experience Information
The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Candidates should ideally have 1-2 years of experience in collections or customer service, with recent experience in a call center or face-to-face customer service being preferred. Intermediate computer skills are necessary for this role.
Preferred Qualification
A preferred qualification for this position is being bi-lingual in Spanish, which would be advantageous in communicating with a diverse debtor population.
Salary Information
The compensation for the Collector/Resolution Specialist is structured as $17 per hour, with the potential to earn up to $10,000 or more annually in commissions. This provides an opportunity for motivated individuals to increase their earnings based on performance.
Additional Information
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with operating hours from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. The position is full-time and classified as non-exempt, meaning the employee is eligible for overtime pay.
