The **Members Only** is currently accepting applications for their internship program. As a volunteer intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with attorneys, investigators, and staff in providing legal representation to indigent individuals. This hands-on experience will allow you to gain valuable skills and training while making a positive impact in the community.

NJOPD offers internship opportunities year-round and statewide, providing a diverse and dynamic experience for students. As an intern, you will have the chance to assist with investigations, client communication, research and writing, trial preparation and advocacy, and attend court proceedings and training programs.

Eligibility Requirements:
- College juniors and seniors, and graduate students are welcome to apply
- Students interested in fields such as social work can also intern in specialized units like Recovery Court and Mental Health Advocacy
- Paralegal students are also eligible for internship positions

Salary Information:
This is an unpaid, volunteer internship. However, the experience and training you will receive are invaluable and can greatly enhance your resume and future career prospects.

Application Process:
To apply for an internship with NJOPD, please submit a cover letter and resume. Your cover letter should include the following information:
- Why you are interested in interning with NJOPD
- Your preferred practice area(s)
- Any geographic preferences or limitations
- Your availability, including anticipated start/end date, number of hours, and schedule

Applications are considered on a rolling basis and must be received between June 15th and July 31st (Fall); between October 15th and November 30th (Spring); and between December 15th and April 15th (Summer).

Please note that in addition to submitting application materials, all applicants must also undergo an interview with the regional office and/or internship coordinator, complete confidentiality and ethics paperwork, and be screened and approved before being offered an internship with NJOPD.

**Members Only** is committed to providing first-class legal representation to indigent individuals at both the trial and appellate levels. Their attorneys defend individuals charged with criminal offenses, represent parents whose children have been removed based on allegations of abuse and neglect, advocate for children who have been removed, represent individuals involuntarily committed to state psychiatric facilities, and assist individuals facing Megan's Law tier classification and seeking post-conviction relief. They also have specialized units for Recovery Court, Intensive Supervision Program, and Forensic Science.
