Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting Methods

Job Responsibilities:

1. **Research**:
- Identify situations requiring research and conduct investigations on identified topics.
- Confirm the accuracy of facts and sources.
- Prepare studies on tax implications and outline alternative courses of action for clients.
- Compose effective research memos for projects and transactions.
- Develop effective presentations for marketing and sales opportunities.

2. **Tax Compliance**:
- Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities.
- Identify options for minimizing client tax and reporting burdens.
- Identify “gray areas” and communicate related risks to partners.
- Complete appropriate workpapers and tax return forms.
- Ensure company risk management and tax quality control standards and protocols are met.
- Communicate with clients and appropriate department personnel regarding any issues.

3. **Tax Consulting**:
- Develop, recommend, and implement solutions to provide clients maximum tax benefits.
- Stay informed of new legal and factual developments affecting clients’ tax accounting methods positions.
- Identify and assist in maximizing all potential tax accounting methods benefits.
- Identify process improvements regarding the processes of identifying, documenting, and supporting accounting methods on exams and at appeals.

4. **Tax Controversy**:
- Represent clients before tax authorities.
- Respond effectively to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities regarding tax accounting methods issues and questions.

5. **Tax Specialization**:
- Develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding tax accounting methods.
- Identify client opportunities and issues related to tax specializations other than accounting methods.

6. **Strategy Development**:
- Develop new or improved ideas and strategies to advance the position of clients and the company.
- Suggest marketing approaches for new client acquisition.

7. **Marketing and Business Development**:
- Exhibit thought leadership in a specialized area within Tax Accounting Methods.
- Recognized as an industry group go-to person in Tax Accounting Methods.
- Work with department partners and local and regional business development managers to develop and execute an effective marketing plan.
- Build effective go-to-market strategies.
- Identify opportunities and prepare and deliver presentations to pitch service capabilities to clients and potential clients.
- Prepare proposals, statements of work, and engagement letters.
- Research a variety of tax topics related to transfer pricing.
- Work on teams that summarize and report on recent transfer pricing developments.
- Draft tax alerts used to communicate recent developments to an external audience.
- Create slides for use in presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Prepare training materials and present on topics of interest to internal audiences.
- Work on special projects to develop the practice, create efficiencies, or improve processes.

8. **Other Duties**:
- Perform other duties as required.

**Supervisory Responsibilities**:
- Supervise and review the day-to-day work of Senior Associates and Associates in the Accounting Methods group.
- Ensure team members are well trained in all required areas.
- Evaluate the performance of team members and assist in the development of goals and objectives to enhance their professional development.
- Deliver periodic performance feedback and complete constructive performance evaluations for team members.
- Act as Career Advisor to team members.

Education and Experience Information:

- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Juris Doctorate (.) preferred.
- Seven or more years of prior Federal tax client service experience required.
- Prior experience supervising tax consulting professionals required.
- Prior experience with accounting methods preferred.
- Prior experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions preferred.
- Prior experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships preferred.

License/Certifications:

- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) or equivalent required.

Software:

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word preferred.
- Experience with tax-related software and research databases such as Caseware, GoSystems, and other comparable programs preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

- Knowledge, skills, and abilities in the tax accounting methods area commensurate with the level of experience required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior analytical and research skills.
- Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details.
