Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys and paralegals with obtaining and organizing client documents, including electronic data.
- Conduct litigation, criminal, civil, and social media background checks and obtain authenticated records as needed.
- Draft subpoenas, notices of deposition, and pattern discovery requests.
- Organize exhibits, evidence, and other materials.
- Search and retrieve information from court-related databases and other online sources of case information.
- Assist with document productions, including Bates labeling, redacting privileged and confidential information, bundling documents, preparing and maintaining privilege logs.
- Prepare and maintain databases and spreadsheets, including data entry support.
- Manage documents and organize case files.
- Perform basic research.
- Effectively manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a professional demeanor; timely seek assistance when needed.
- Keep accurate time and billing records according to established policies and procedures.
Education and Experience Information:
- A certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association.
- A certificate of completion of a paralegal program at, or a degree from, a post-secondary institution requiring a minimum of 24 semester units in law-related courses, accredited by a national or regional accrediting organization or approved by the Bureau for Private Post-Secondary and Vocational Education.
- A baccalaureate or advanced degree in any subject, with a minimum of one year of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who is an active member of the State Bar of California or has practiced in the federal courts of this state for at least the preceding three years, along with a written declaration from the attorney stating the individual is qualified to perform paralegal tasks.
Salary Information:
The hourly rate range for this position is - . Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
Additional Information:
- The performance year for paralegals begins October 1 and ends September 30.
- Paralegals must perform high-quality billable work for the benefit of clients and the support of attorneys.
- Paralegals use expertise and knowledge of the legal system and substantive and procedural law to perform substantive legal support work under the supervision of an attorney.
